Artist Bio

Inès Paterson (b.1960) is a London-based artist, who was born and raised in Brussels, Belgium. Her work is driven by colour and form. She strives to combine a brilliant range of colours with sharp edges and geometric forms taken from landscapes, all the while also bringing in the fluid movement of the human form explored in her life drawing classes. Paterson’s art is a suggestive, introductory gesture with the intention of allowing the imagination to run and expand. 
 

For many years, Paterson worked in the fashion industry, specialising in leather and working as a designer in both London and Brussels. After having children, she embarked on her Fine Art training at South Thames College, Putney School of Art and then Heatherleys School of Fine Art. 
 

Her work has featured in several group exhibitions, including at the London Wetland Centre (2005), the Royal College of Art, as part of an annual CHASE fundraiser (2001-2014), and at 22 Bishopsgate, as part of the ‘Love Life’ fundraiser for PAPYRUS and Sound Minds (2024). 
 

Paterson is currently part of the Sedici group, a cohort of post-graduate artists who come together to discuss and exhibit their work, established by Danny Rolph in 2010. Her work has been shown in several of the group’s exhibitions over 2025 and 2026.
